Union Cabinet Meeting Chaired by PM Narendra Modi approved two out of six Indian Institutes of Managements ( IIMs) which are to be set up in two cities of Punjab – Golden Amritsar and Sirmaur. The other cities to have these most prestigious institutes for Management are Vishakhapatnam in AP, Bodh Gaya in Bihar, Nagpur in Maharashtra, and Sambalpur in Odisha.
All these IIMs will start from the upcoming session of 2015-16. In the beginning the Institutes will begun functioning from the Makeshift campus and then later be shifted to the Permanent campuses after the construction. said Telecom Minister Mr Ravi Shankar Prasad. A govt Release Said that the yearly intake will be 560 by the end of seven years. The decision was taken to improve the quality of education and provide good chances to more and more students of getting quality management related education.
There shall be a good competition expected in the very first session. The people especially the students of these regions are over-joyous over this decision. The more no of IIMs means more chances for more students. In future more areas can have IIMs. Besides this decision other important decisions were also taken
