B.Ed after B.Com – Can I Do it ?
Bachelors in Education ( B.Ed ) is imperative to become a teacher in schools ( Govt and Private ) in India. There are three types of posts – Primary/ TGT/ PGT. For the primary level posts, JBT or NTT is required. But for TGT, the essential educational qualification is Graduation + B.Ed and for PGT, Post Graduation + B.Ed.
However, there are many students who remain always perplexed regarding this point. The frequent questions are – is B.Ed necessary to become TGT or PGT ? or Can B.Com / M.Com Students do B.Ed ? or Is it only for Non-c0mmerce students (for me ) .
First of all, commerce students must know that B.Ed is only for those who are willing to enter teaching field. Otherwise there are other courses such as CA, CS, MBA etc.
Can I do B.Ed after B.Com or M.Com ? Is It Must to do B.Ed for Commerce Students
Students of all the streams will have to do B.Ed if they are thinking about teaching jobs at school TGT / PGT level. For Primary teaching job, there are courses as mentioned earlier. And for the jobs in College, there are other Educational Qualifications such as NET/ PhD.
No doubt, the commerce students can do B.Ed. For that they need 50% marks in B.Com. Remember that the basic qualification for getting admission in B.Ed will be B.Com, not M.Com.
But, B.Com B.Ed is not a complete qualification to touch teaching field. Commerce has the following subjects such as Commerce, Accounts, Commerce etc. These subjects appear only in 10+1 and 10+2, not in 6th,7th, 8th, 9th, 10th. So the point is that you can do B.Ed after B.Com but, for becoming a teacher you need to do M.Com. It means the commerce students have only two levels of classes to teach – Sr Secondary and Graduation. The Subject combination shall be available in the prospectus offered by the concerned university ( almost all the universities offer B.Ed after B.Com ).
