What can I do after Bachelor English Honors or English Literature ? – Scope/ Career after BA English ( Hons )

There is much craze among the students for Graduation in English Honors. The Reason is that English holds a great significance in the world today. Even this language has more importance in India as the country has a large no of English learners in various capacities.

Therefore, the language has a tremendous scope in the country. So anybody carrying any of the degrees with this language must not feel worried about their career. There are numerous career opportunities. So get ready to count career opportunities after BA English Honors ( English Literature).

Jobs in Publishing Industry –

Publishing industry is in boom this time. Almost every day, new works are being published. This industry requires people with this educational background ( BA English Honors ). The various jobs you can find in this sector are – as a journalist, editor, content writer ( offline/online), radio announcer, newsreader,copy-writer in an advertising agency, scriptwriter, anchor, proof-reader etc in print as well as in electronic media.

Besides there are jobs such as technical writer, public relations officers, corporate communications executive and so on.

Career when Combined with PG Degree ( MA English Literature/B.Ed/ PhD )

UGC NET – If you have pursued MA English Literature after BA English Hons, you can opt for NET English and become Asst Professor in a college or university.

B.Ed – With BA B.Ed/ MA B.Ed, you can get jobs as school teachers.

PhD – You can also pursue PhD in the subject you have in your PG. The subject can be English Literature/ Journalism etc.

International BPO – If you are well-versed in spoken English and have American / British Accent, you can get job at some International BPO. Besides the language proficiency, you must be computer-savvy.

Govt Sector/ Banking Sector Jobs – If you are interested in Govt Sector jobs or Banking Sector jobs and love to take Competitive Exams, you can try here. For that you will have to prepare some related subjects with English being one. You can also complete for Civil Services.

MBA – You can also try MBA in tourism/ hotel management/ general management and get jobs of asst managers/ managers as per your qualification.
