or

Why do people visit Antarctica ?

Answer – Antarctica is the right place to go to if  people wish to comprehend (understand ) the earth’s present, past and future. It tells us how our globe ( Earth ) took its present day shape. Antarctica tells us how there was a time when India and South America used to be a part of the southern super- continent  ( महाद्वीप  ) – Gondwana ( the name ).

Then, about many years ago, India pushed northward ( towards the north ) and jammed ( रुक जाना ) against Asia making the Himalayas.

South America drifted off ( सरका ) to join North America. The study of Antarctica also tells us that it is the only place in the world that never had any human population. It remains comparatively pristine (पवित्र/ अनछुई )  in this respect. it has in its ice cores ( Surface ) half -million- years- old carbon records.

Thus Antarctica tells us of the present state also.
