Military Engineering Service ( MES) is one the largest government services that provide forceful engineering services to the Indian Armed Forces. This Agency is related with Construction and Maintenance which is under the Govt of India. It provides the engineering support to various forms of Army, Air Force, Navy etc. MES prepares Architects, civil, electrical and mechanical engineers to do the job as structural designers, quantity surveyors etc for designing and supervision related works.
How to enter the Military Engineering Services ?
The aspirants have to clear the Exam held by UPSC. The test known as Combined Competitive Exam for the recruitment to the posts of Engineering Organizations of the country namely Indian Railway Service of Engineers ( IRSE), MES etc.
MES Eligibility and Exam Pattern –
The age eligibility is between 21 and 30 years as on 1st of January of the exam year. But there is also the age -relaxation as per the Govt Rules. The aspirants must be Graduate in Engineering from the recognized institutes/ colleges. The candidates who are in the final year can also participate.
As per the New Exam Pattern ( 2017), there shall be three stages. The Stage 1 means Preliminary Exam. IT shall be the Objective Type exam consisting two papers. The Papers are –
Paper – 1

|Engineering Aptitude and Engineering||300 Marks||180 Minutes|
The Total Marks of Stage I are 500.
The Stage II means Mains. This is a Subjective Type Paper also consists of 2 Papers. Both the Papers carry questions based on Engineering Concepts. Those who are able to clear the Stage 1 Exam can take this Stage 2 exam. Both the papers are having 300 questions each of total 600 marks.
This stage is followed by the Stage 3. This is a Personality test consists of 200 Marks.The candidates who have cleared all these Three stages are included in the Final Merit List.
This is the final Stage of Selection. The Interview is of 200 Marks. This Personality Test assesses the candidate’s suitability for the job in the Indian Military. During the interview, the candidates’ intellectual qualities as well as social traits and interests are gauged. For passing this stage, the candidates must be reasonably sound and mentally mature. It requires a lot of practice to face Interview here. We advise the candidates to be well-versed in English language and have sound knowledge of the concerned trades and jobs.
Military Engineering Services Selection Procedure –
As you have read, you will have to undergo the said steps. You need to be in the Final Merit List. The exams take place in the respective Command Head Quarters. But before that you will have to apply for MES. For that check the Important dates for MES 2017.
